Greek gods can be traced back to the writing of Homer. they were created to help explain the world around them, and the things that could not be understood. In many city states,they had specific temples built for a certain god to honor them. They were normally in look at in human form a nd lived in societies similar to today's. It's very hard for people to trace the ancestry of Greek gods because there are several myths about how they came along. The gods were known to be born in numerous ways. Greek Mythology has had an impact on many civilizations. Most western civilizations can trace their orgins back to Greece.
